Kendall Is One-Lousville Children’s Photography

Kendall was my first newborn to photograph and I can’t believe she is a year old! Last year when she was only 10 days old I persuaded her momma to let me capture her newborn sweetness and she was happy to oblige. I think Shelli and I learned a lot about newborns from that day and I’m sorry Kendall you were my experiment shoot. I now know newborns run the shoot and you must keep them warm, content, with momma always near by!  I’ve since captured Kendall sitting as a smiley six month old, and just recently as a very mobile one year old. I can’t believe it has been a year!

Is this girl a future model or what??

Happy Birthday Miss Kendall last October! Oops I’m behind!

Have a great Tuesday!

Nursery Reveal!

Nursery Reveal- It’s done! I LOVE this room. I think it is perfect the way we designed it and love all the details. It is definitely not the quintessential boy nursery but I think it still “says” baby boy and is masculine enough. My husband likes to joke with me, asking if Jack’s allowed to have balls in her and I said of course, as long as they match the color scheme. I’m proud of this room because I have put my all into every detail and it’s really the first room in our house that I have designed and I feel is completely done.

Without further ado, here is our baby boy’s room that he will just LOVE from day one! ;)

Krystal & Frank-Downtown Louisville Couples Photography

I have the cutest couple to show you today and the cutest little pup to boot! Krystal and Frank, teachers as I will always know them even though she left the “industry” months ago, are my adventurous outdoor loving, health seeking friends who are no longer moving back to Michigan…yea! Although we’re all planning a trip to Mackinaw Island some day in the future. First baby perhaps? They wanted to get some family shots since they added their fur baby to the Godlesky family. I love their names too. Krystal’s maiden name was Kolody…how unique…at least to me.

I digress…and now for some images from the day!

Enjoy!

38 Weeks-Baby J Pregnancy

38 Weeks (2 to 4 weeks to go!)

38 Weeks Baby J Pregnancy

Baby J…

is almost 7 pounds and somewhere around 19 1/2 inches long! You can tell by the ginormous belly above. The thing is huge!

How I’m feeling…

I still feel pretty good. My biggest complaint is how easily I get a backache from doing any task. I vacuumed the couch and I was seriously hurting after. We’re talking red faced, sweating, and out of breath. I’m looking forward to normal movements that aren’t encumbered by this massive belly like dishes and bending over.

Nesting…

is in full force around here. I’ve cleaned the oven, completely cleaned the nursery (pictures to come) and our bedroom. I’ve got a long weekend off work and plan to tackle the rest of the grime! Kitchen, baseboards, and windows I’m talking to you!

Weight Gain-27 Pounds

Belly Button-OUT and no denying it!

Signs of labor-Just Braxton and real contractions scattered throughout the day.

What I’m looking forward to-Two days off work and a short work week! Only eight more working days left till I officially am a stay at home momma!

Natural induction methods-Red raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, walking, exercise ball, among others. These will only “work” once babes is ready.

We’re pretty much ready here. Play yard and swing is up. Monitor is installed. Car seat is going in very soon. Hospital bag is mostly packed.

Still gotta find that pediatrician! poo

My husband snapped some maternity pictures recently. We did just a few in a hurry before a recent shoot at Bernheim Forest. More to come but here is a sneak peek…

Louisville Kentucky Maternity SessionLouisville Kentucky Maternity Session

Any guesses on labor, early or late? I’m hoping to avoid a chemical induction so I’ve really got to pick up my walking and other things! ;)

U10 MockingValley Youth Soccer

U10 Soccer-A good friend contacted me to shoot some team pictures for the youth soccer league she coaches. I was a bit hesitant because sports aren’t my fortay but I’m always down for a challenge! I am so glad I did this because I had a lot of fun shooting these girls with their friends. I wanted to giggle, throw a slumber party, and talk about boys with them! I had so much fun!

Auria Is One-Louisville Children’s Photography

Auria Is One-A good friend I’ve known since my middle school years had the most adorable baby last October and I’ve basically begged her to let me photograph her daughter ever since. She has the most unique eyes I’ve ever seen and the best personality. I love when babies are expressive and Auria is not shy in delivering her intentions! She had us working hard at this shoot but we got some of the greatest images of her and the sweetest images of this new little family.

Sorry for the onslaught of pictures. I personally love them all!

36 Weeks-Baby J Pregnancy

36 Weeks
Baby J 36 Weeks Pregnant Belly

Baby J 36 Weeks Pregnant Belly

Baby J is the size of…
A Crenshaw Melon weighing about 6 pounds and 18 ½ inches long. He should be packing on the pounds according to my weekly updates. At 34 weeks he was 4 3/4, 35 weeks 5 ¼, and now 6 pounds! I just can’t believe I’m walking around with a 6 pound human in me that could be 18 inches long.
How I’m Feeling…
Achy. L I feel like a walking constant backache with a side of Braxton hick’s thrown in; I can’t forget the sleepiness. I go back and forth between finishing my to-do list and attempting naps. I’ve been living on the heating pad because the slightest bend gives me a backache. I’ve also seemed to have a resurfacing of nausea this past week and my appetite is touch and go. I really hope that passes and is just a fluke. Don’t wanna be sick or just nauseus for the next 4-6 weeks.
I had a midwife appointment this past Tuesday and we have now confirmed with the second midwife that Jack is head down. I have to let this fear go because at this point he’s pretty snug in there and shouldn’t flip back on me. I also had to get swabbed for GBS (link), which I consider my last test to pass for an uncomplicated pregnancy/labor. If positive, I will have to be at the hospital four hours before birth for antibiotics, which will interfere with my “stay home as long as possible plan.” It is not the biggest issue but I hope I get to avoid it altogether.
Full Term…
I can’t believe in one more week I will be considered full term. It has almost been 32 weeks since I walked in the office with the positive test with complete shock on my face to tell Carl. I hate to admit but thought it was a fluke and then that something might happen, but here we are 4-6 weeks away from the biggest change of our lives; the start of our family. Once this week hits, I am going to worry less about going into birth early and start embracing it. I plan to up the walking, start drinking Raspberry tea, eating some pineapple, among other things, but I will avoid the castor oil! My biggest hope is any of these methods help baby boy to come on time if not a little early so I can go into labor naturally. I really want to experience that without interventions.
What I miss-Pain free bathroom visits. I wait to long and bam contraction!
What I’m looking forward to-October to be over! I’m ready to relax and have all my to-do’s done. I want to spend some quality time with the hubs.
Belly Button-Still half out/half in.
Nursery-Ready for baby! Clothes washed, cloths wiped, disposables ready, everything organized for first few months (hopefully)
Baby Monitors Purchased-1! I got this one to stifle my neurosis over SIDS.
Still To Do-
Find Louisville Peditrician
Clean my house! I’ve been on and off nesting. Cleaned the oven and fridge but the dirty windows are driving me bananas!

34 Weeks-Baby J Pregnancy

34 Weeks

34 Weeks Pregnant Belly

Baby J…

is over 4 ½ pounds and close to 18 inches long. The fruit comparison is pineapple and relates to his weight this week. He is moving all over the place and I find I’m getting to the point where I momentarily freak out if I haven’t felt him move or I haven’t knowingly felt him move. I think I’ve been fairly rational this whole pregnancy and will continue to, but the thought of something happening this late in the game or forcing him to come early is in the back of my mind.

Best news I’ve heard is that Baby J is head down! Apparently the two bumps I was feeling and thought meant he was transverse are his butt and knees/feet. I’ll have to trust my mid-wife on this one because I can’t tell any of the body parts from each other.  I consider it reassuring when I feel his hiccups low in the belly.

How I’m feeling…

Tired. Sleeping through the night doesn’t happen. I’m up to use the bathroom at least 4 times a night and Braxton hick’s increase more at night so they aren’t helping. I’ve noticed lately they have become stronger or more intense. To the point I think I’m having real contractions and are accompanied by back pains. At first I was drinking a lot of water before bed but since everything is compounded by having to use the bathroom I cut back. First night of that and I’m abruptly awoken by a Charlie horse. I think I might have jumped up in bed and kinda sorta screamed and woke Carl up. SOooooo I don’t know the answer. I consider this sleepless contraction filled nights where you’re dragging through the day a flaw in God’s design for reproduction. Yea yea it’s preparing me for a newborn.

Exercise…

Is non-existent minus walking 3 flights of stairs at work numerous times a day. I really really need to force myself to at least walk; and the weather is very nice. It’s just that I’m soooo busy right now and I tend to get overwhelmed very easily. Exercise is the first to go and really it should be the first to be increased. It’s important so I need to make it top priority, but as I write this all I want to do is go to sleep!

What I Miss…Sleeping on my stomach. I’ve probably said that before but it’s true. I even tried to build up four pillows with a hole in the middle and lay on top of that but it didn’t really work.

Cravings-Sweets! I made this over the holiday and it’s gone! Now I really want to make thesethis weekend. Still downing some ICE. I am content with the ice at home soley but I still eat it a lot! (Eating as I type)

Weight Gain-22 pounds

Belly Button-Mostly Innie, the top sticks out but the rest is still hiding on the inside.

Showers Left-2 and both this weekend! I plan to organize and finish the nursery next week!

Ready for Baby-I say Yes! We have a car seat, cloth and disposable diapers, and since I’m hoping to nurse, I have his food.

Real Contractions-I think so but usually only when I use the bathroom so they might just be the bad Braxton’s. I’m going to bring this up on my mid-wife at my appt next week.

To do/Needs

Find Louisville Pediatrician

Changing pad and baby monitor. I plan on getting this one which might be a bit neurotic but it has the best reviews and would ease my mind those first few weeks.

Organize Nursery-Wash Clothes & Put Gifts Away

“Finish” Nursery-(It’s ready for baby but I have a few more to-do’s before it’s ready for momma)-Cubby Baskets, Changing Pad, Collage Prints

Anyone nest late in the game or is nesting a sign of labor? Have braxton’s and real contractions? Obsess about the nursery? Get most items from showers off registry?

Have a great Thursday!
